INVESTIGATING PLANTS

Nursery have been using magnifying glasses to observe crocuses and daffodils.

Reception grew an amaryllis and observed the changes as it grew and measured its growth carefully. They also drew pictures to record their observations and labelled their drawings.

Year 1 dissected a daffodil with tweezers with a partner and discovered that a plant has many different parts. They then found out about the functions of each part of a flowering plant.

Year 2 worked scientifically to find out what plants needed to grow. They set up a comparative test for cress seeds to see if they needed soil, water and light. They then predicted, observed and recorded the growth of the cress. What super scientists they are!
